From the Farm

This is Garrett County, and the agricultural community has spent decades perfecting northern growing. Did you know that the farmers here not only grow produce for the local community, but they also sell to restaurants and grocery stores, not just here but throughout West Virginia and other parts of Maryland? In addition, they supply food banks and some institutions, like colleges and hospitals.

There is just nothing like fresh produce picked right out of the field! It tastes so good, and it’s healthier too. Here are a few of the on-farm stands located around the county, where you can shop for some of that tasty goodness.

Route 560 Farm Market

Route 560 Farm Market is an on-farm produce market. They feature fresh produce in season, much of which is picked there on the farm.

They also have flowers and other plants available in one of their tunnels next to the produce area, and in the fall, they offer pumpkins and gourds.

They often have fruit, such as peaches, apples, and watermelon available in season.

In addition, they have offer gelato, which they make fresh on location with their Go Go Gelato business.
