Amish Food & Crafts
Because the Amish have retained their folk culture so closely through the years, it stands out as a beacon of rich history and strong family values. Garrett County culture has been heavily influenced by the Amish. Following are some of the businesses owned by local Amish and Amish Mennonites. Local Amish families are a treasured part of our community.
Phil Mar Fresh Farm Produce
The Phil Mar vegetable stand sits on 219 South, directly across from Saffitickers Ice Cream stand.
Run by Philip and Margaret Schrock, it features fresh vegetables off their farm and fresh home baked goods. We highly recommend Phil Mar. Margaret’s bread is incredible!
The stand is open in season. Stop in at Saffitickers across the road for an ice cream while you’re there.

Schrock’s Country Store
Schrock’s Country Store serves some of the most talked about sandwiches in the community; the bread baked fresh on location daily.
They also carry meats and cheeses, bulk foods, and a variety of Amish and Mennonite canned goods, such as Miller’s Pickled Eggs.
In addition, they have a large selection of wooden furniture and other gift items.
Schrock’s is a “must-visit”.

Sugar and Spice Bakery
Sugar and Spice Bakery is located on 219 South of Oakland.
They bake fresh daily and offer a host of breads, pies, cookies, cakes, and homemade donuts. One of their most loved specialties is their pumpkin roll.
The also offer sliced to order meats and cheese.

Heidi’s Restaurant
Heidi’s Restaurant is located in Pleasant Valley in the heart of Amish country.
They feature made-from-scratch entries and baked goods. Breakfast is a particularly delicious treat.
Most of their offerings are foods eaten regularly in local family homes, so if you want a real taste of the area, you will find it here.
Yoder’s Fabrics
Yoder’s Fabrics offers a large variety of fabric and other sewing items.
They also have quilting supplies, yarns, and other sewing related craft supplies.
In addition, they have a small supply of children’s books and toys for young shoppers accompanying their parents.

Lynndale Greenhouse
Lynndale Greenhouse is located in Pleasant Valley. They offer vegetable and flower plants, and they are a local favorite when it comes time to plant the garden. In addition, they have hanging baskets and potted flowers.
Their greenhouse is smaller than Pleasant Valley Greenhouse but they have some different finds, and their plants are always healthy.
They are open starting in April, Monday through Saturday.
