Our MissioN
Our mission is to celebrate those lesser-known aspects of Garrett County, Maryland, both for visitors and for permanent residents.
Garrett County is a tourist destination, known for things like the Wisp and Deep Creek Lake. And those things have been well promoted. But the area is so much more, with its deep history and culture. We want to shine a spotlight on that part of the area.
Who Created the Website
We are not affiliated with local government or any tourist group. We are simply local citizens who love Garrett County.
We did not receive any compensation from any of the businesses highlighted in this website for their inclusion.
What We Believe
We get it. You go to a new place on vacation, and you want to know what it’s really like. You pick up the brochures, and ads are posted everywhere, but you just can’t quite put your finger on the pulse.
You know there’s more to see and do, but the businesses with the advertising dollars drown out those obscure little shops.
You want to see Appalachian culture, but all you see is commercialism.
This site exists to help those wanting to know more about Appalachia find the gems, and to help locals learn more about their home.
